Christmas a day of freedom

1 John 3:8  Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

What are the works of the devil?

Slavery to sin

Making us disobey the commandments of God is the work of the devil. The devil needs us to agree with his thoughts and plans in order to produce sin in us but If we remember that Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil meaning he came to give us a new heart that is obedient to God and not to the devil so that we can live a new life exactly like the life of the Lord Jesus on the earth (Rom 6:4)

When we sin we become slaves of sin and lose our freedom and God, our heavenly father was sad that we became slaves to sin and Satan so he sent us good news.

Freedom through Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ is our good news he came to save us by destroying the works of the devil.Jesus Christ came to give us freedom from the devil’s power. Jesus Christ did not come to just remove our past sins but he can save us everyday from the power of sin. He can save us by the power of the Holy Spirit and help us to keep God’s commandments and therefore have the freedom to experience Peace and Joy

The Lord Jesus can save us from the power of sin EVERYDAY! This is a glorious reason to celebrate Christmas.

May God bless you and free you from a guilty conscience, fear of wrath, pleasure of sin into holiness, love, peace and Joy. May you follow Jesus everyday and be obedient to God  and enjoy freedom from sin.

Walk worthy of your calling

Our Lord Jesus spoke through his suffering on the cross and sent me a word “it is finished “.  I heard it and received it and that truth that went deep in my heart , Its power delivered me from sin, guilt and shame. “It is finished” that word found a resting place in my heart like a seed planted. But it was not an idle seed, soon that seed started budding in my my life and that divine word started encroaching all sin, it started encroaching the areas the sinful nature (flesh) was ruling. In my heart there was a barren land and dry ground that only produced death but amazingly God’s word started bearing life, death was surely finished and life had begun.  my sins are forgiven and condemnation is finished , The rule of flesh is finished, guilty conscience is finished, wretchedness is finished. Now I can start healing  and this seed will gave me new life and where there was a desert, dry and dead , now there is a refreshing oasis , a garden of peace, Joy and rest and my Heavenly father is its gardener. By the effect of this word in my life now  know the Word of God had power to make me dead unto sin and giving abundant life and eagerness to live and serve God.

Now I hear another word from the faithful Jesus powerfully urging us to “walk worthy of your calling”. God’s calling has made me rich “with every spiritual blessing” in Christ Jesus, My calling has replaced fear with faith and discouragement with Joy , where once there was fear of death and decay now my heart is full of hope and rejoicing and anticipation of resurrection .God is a great and mighty creator whose wisdom is able to create all creatures and build such a complex world is amazing . All the scientists and wise men of the world still cannot figure out God’s greatest mysteries. How did man come into existence?  Why was man made ?

As the Hymn goes

All things bright and beautiful,

All creatures great and small,

All things wise and wonderful:

The Lord God made them all.

He gave us eyes to see them,

And lips that we might tell

How great is God Almighty,

Who has made all things well.

Everything that exists is created by God and almighty God now he has called me to be his “son”. What a wonder? Iam made of dust, living on the sin and sickness infested earth, bound by chains of sin and without hope now have received a mighty calling to become a son of God (Rom 9:26)?  So Who is a son? A son must share the same substance (1John 3:2 ), the same house, the same riches, the same glory  and be honored as a family along with the heavenly father, Praise God ! what a God and what a divine calling? God has done infinitely more  than I can ask or even think (Eph 3:20).

So after knowing these heavenly truths , How should I pay attention to the voice of the Lord saying  “walk worthy of your calling”? How should I receive this word carefully, meekly and implant this word in my heart (Jas 1:21) and bear fruit? How should I make sure that I do not miss the blessing of the “walk”? How do I make sure that I do not disobey my Lord who command me? How should I “be” God’s Son ?

To reach any destination, We need directions and we need guidance. Our Rich calling is our hope and the map and obeying these directions of the Lord will ensure that we will reach or destination accurately.

Always carry the map before you journey. Keep your calling before you or you will lose your way

Our holy calling tells us to take certain roads many times through paths of suffering, humility and earthly loss , if there is spiritual ruin and destruction before us God will show us different roads and lead us to salvation. The Path of the Lord Jesus is the narrow road. The narrow and straight way of the Lord leads to everlasting Joy , peace and glory (Rom 8:30). The narrow way of the Lord is delivering us from the coming destruction into eternal rest. We must move as fast as the Holy Spirit leads us without wasting time.

When God calls and if we heed that calling we will be blessed

If it true for a lifeless star how much more true is it for us?  Isa 40:26  Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing.

God has named and remembered a lifeless start How much more does he remember you who is called by his name?

Being in God’s perfect will.

Deu 30:19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.

God has put two paths before us life or death. Unbelievers who chose the path of death by rejecting Christ and those brethren who followed the Lord wholeheartedly have chosen the path of eternal life. In the last days  a new path has come that promises life without the cost of following Christ . In this path self-life is king and Jesus Christ is the servant . People walking in this path do not seek to serve Christ but rather love to be served by God. They seek earthly blessings and eternal salvation but have no love for the Lord , no thankfulness for his suffering and sacrifice and no desire for his glorious calling. They do not consider serving God as the highest goal of their life and glorify God in everything (1Peter 4:11) , they are not seeking God’s will for their life. They are not hungry and thirsty for God’s kingdom because they are filled with many other perishable things.

This is the path of deception because such people are slaves to self and not to righteousness (Rom 6:18) , Flesh, not grace rules in that persons life and those who do not live according to 2 Corinthians 5:15 are walking in this path. One can pray and may feel sorry for their sins but they have no zeal for God’s glory, God’s house and God’s kingdom. This is a path of selfishness and will lead to eventual backsliding and may lead to loss of eternal life.

If you love God , you will surely seek his will. Do not waste any more days, months and years and deceive yourself. get off this deceptive path!

We are born again by the grace and kindness of God so do not waste your God given life. We are not “born again” to be “dead in sin and selfishness” but we are born again to press on to a living hope (1 Peter 1:3 ) and a sanctified life (1 Peter 1:2).

Why did God save you?

Does anyone bring dirty, useless items and adorn their house? Rather we collect essential items and worthy items that are worth appreciating. The owner must appreciate the items worth so in the exact same way make every effort to be found worthy in God’s sight. (2 Timothy 2:20-21). Be faithful and sincere and one day you will adorn God’s house as a vessel of honor.

Titus 2:14  who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Jesus Christ gave himself so he can possess believers full of thankfulness and zeal for God’s honor and good works. Does God own you? are you being used by God for his work in your life?

To be God’s Holy vessel is the highest and greatest privilege of a believer. This is our purpose. This is the zeal with which we must live. To glorify and love God by presenting our heart , mind, soul and strength. In this dark world many are hungry , many are without light and we must seek to be God’s mouth, feet and hands in the sinful world. Seek to be God’s teacher and guide others, to be God’s shepherd and protect his sheep, Seek to be a Godly wife with a humility and meekness, Seek to be a Godly mother like Hannah raising her children in Godly ways and teaching them to love God . To be God’s vessel is a great calling and will lead to amazing satisfaction and glorious praise in eternity. This is why we must reject laziness and all forms of selfishness and seek the heavenly gifts, heavenly kingdom .

On this earth the church is the place given to us to honor the Lord Jesus. We can invest in eternal treasures here , We can please God here, we can be full of enthusiasm along with other faithful brothers and sisters.Together keeping our eyes on Jesus we can fast , pray, overcome sin, love our brethren with humility and meekness and be one body then we will have God’s praise.

Jesus Christ our King is worthy of glory , praise and honor for he is the lamb that was slain for our sins.So be zealous and make every effort to walk worthy of our Lord . We must must not sit till God’s work is done (1 Samuel 16:11) and Christ’s church is built. We must not merely live by faith but be willing to die by faith. That is the way of the faithful saints of the God who lived before us (Heb 11:8-16). We must not compromise with the world and follow our selfish desires but we must allow Christ to rule and lead us in the way of the cross , through earthly loss and through suffering yet with great Joy and thanksgiving.

What are we but flesh and blood? What is our value? We are made from dust and if we continue to live for earthly things to our continuing shame ,then “dust” will be our value in eternity too. but to those who have hoped in the Lord, who breathe and live only for the Lord continually , every moment seeking his will and purifying (1 John 3:3 ) themselves there will be honor, glory and peace (Rom 2:7,10)

If you love God and obey his commandments , he will surely make you fruitful (John 15:8,16).

Individual or a Body?

Col 1:3 We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Col 1:4 For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people,

A farmer in a kingdom is happy when his own fields are green and if he is fed and his needs are taken care. But a ruler of the kingdom is happy when all the fields that belong to all the people are green, all the needs are met then there is peace for the whole nation. The ruler has a corporate interest in mind i.e. interest of the whole people in mind. Christ is our ruler and as per our calling  if we think like our Lord (phillipians 2:5) then we will also be seeking “the interest of all the people”.

Php 2:20 For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.

In the same way Paul was like the Lord Jesus , he prayed and thanked for the body of Christ. As their faith grew so did his thanksgiving because he enjoyed the growth in the church. It did not matter in which person the growth took place. What matters is our Lord’s work is going on and his pleasure and plan are coming to fruit. We too must be mature and look beyond our own interests and look to God’s interests but it requires us to enlarge our hearts and minds and to be alive to God’s plans and purposes

When is a christian lonely?

A christian is lonely when they are living for their own desires, for their own purposes.

All those who feel a calling, a burden, a desire to do more for God must learn to die to their own plans, positions and surrender to God and allow him to re-design our inner and outer lives. The proof of maturity in this way is that we become many and hence fruitful and pleasing to God.

Paul’s Joy and thanksgiving to God reveal that he had a great love for God and God’s work . it is a great inspiration for us and we must be imitate such lives. Such a unselfish mind, Joy and such a thanksgiving is only achieved by dying to self otherwise we are alone by ourselves

John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

Then when the body grows i.e. other brothers and sisters grow we too can be filled with spontaneous Joy leading to thanksgiving to God.

Wholehearted repentance

Wholehearted repentance requires us to judge our sin from God’s perspective and to forsake it. When we were baptized we made a covenant with God to keep a clear conscience and we must be faithful in keeping our commitment (1 Peter 3:21)

Without repentance there is no grace and the wrath of God still remains on us.

Without repentance we cannot receive spiritual peace and spiritual power to serve the God.consider why Jesus shed his blood? ( Heb 9:14 )

When we repent then God’s genuine grace not only justifies us but trains us in godliness (Tit 2:11-12)

Repentance leads to eternal life (Act 11:18)

These are some guidelines that can be used to thoroughly repent before God and thereby be restored unto eternal life .

Take sin seriously and repent

  • Honor God: Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom (Psalm 111:10 )
  • Examine self: Spend time examining yourself before the Lord

Identify your sin and consider its consequence.

  • Identify your sin even as Paul identified his sins clearly – 1Ti 1:13

Meditate on the Consequences

  • Rev 21:8 Liars have their place in the Lake of Fire
  • 1Co 6:9 – Adulterers will not enter the kingdom of God

Meditate on the scriptures which condemns that sin.

  • When we think of sin we tend to take it lightly that’s like ignoring cancer or heart disease in its early stages. But when we read God’s commandments in the word, sin is shown from God’s perspective and the true nature of sin and its harmful effects come out in the light (Rom 5:20 )
  • This meditation requires diligence in searching scriptures.

Meditate on the sufferings of the Lord Jesus who was crucified for these sins

  • 1Co 11:23, Luke 22:44  , Heb 5:7

Hate sin and forsake it, determine not to repeat it again.

  • Heb 1:9  Be holy , separate yourself from the sinful desires of the flesh in your mind before God.

Make every effort to rectify the damage done by your sin, to the best of your ability in the sight of God.

Rectify in your mind and heart

Repeat the act where you sinned in your mind and correct the situation in righteousness as if you had a second chance. If you have gossiped , go back to the point of temptation and decide when you should have stopped yourself from sinning. This exercise is very helpful in repenting fully.

Rectify practically where possible (Luk 19:8)

Repay, Restore , Apologize , pay all your debts before God

Genuine repentance Praises God (1Ti 1:13-17)
